GStreamer 1.25.50 unstable development release (feature freeze for 1.26 now in effect)

The GStreamer team is pleased to announce another development release in the unstable 1.25 release series.

The unstable 1.25 release series is for testing and development purposes in the lead-up to the stable 1.26 series which is scheduled for release as soon as possible.

Any newly-added API can still change until that point.

This development release is primarily for developers and early adopters.

Binary packages for Android, iOS, Mac OS X and Windows will be provided shortly.

As always, please let us know of any issues you run into by filing a bug in GitLab.

Next stop: 1.26 release candidate 1 (1.25.90)

Feature Freeze now in effect for 1.26

Just a quick note that git main is now: FROZEN for new features (*).

This is in order to let things settle down and focus our attention on stabilising, bug-fixing and sorting out blocker bugs for the upcoming 1.26 release.

It will probably still be okay to add a little new property here or a small piece of library API there, but new plugins, elements, libraries, or components should really wait for the next cycle once we’re feature frozen. Same for any other intrusive changes or major refactorings.

During the feature freeze any new features should be signed off by your friendly release managers.

If there’s anything you feel should really go into 1.26, please bring it up on Matrix, add a comment in gitlab, or set the ticket milestone to 1.25.90.

(*) does not apply to gstreamer-rs / gst-plugins-rs

Binary packages for 1.25.50 are available at the usual location now.

Please remember that this is a development snapshot release and not a stable release and is primarily meant for development and testing purposes.
