HLS stream audio and video out of sync

I’v been trying to use gstreamer to push a HLS stream to kinesis video streams, however the problem I’ve been having is that the audio and video is out of sync.

I thought that I could try enabling the dot files to be exported to see how the playbin creates a pipeline, however playbin also plays the stream out of sync.

The gstreamer pipeline I’m using is:

The connection speed needed to be set on the hlsdemux in order to get the appropriate audio and video stream.

Is there any element that I can use to ensure the audio and video are sync’d up correctly?

Use hlsdemux2 from 1.24 instead. It has a ton of fixes and will provide you parsed elementary streams with the proper timestamps.

Sadly I can’t test that stream since it’s geo-locked for me.

Thanks for getting back so quick!

Something I noticed when trying to use playbin3, as that uses hlsdemux2, is that the audio/video will stop playing after about 40 seconds. Using playbin, the audio/video plays (but out of sync).

Will this also happen when changing hlsdemux to hlsdemux2? I can’t seem to see a flag to set to enable it to keep playing

playbin3 will end up using hlsdemux2 automatically if present.

when using playbin3 do you get any warning messages ? (run with GST_DEBUG=2)

Since I can’t access that stream (geoblocked), you’ll have to open an issue on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/

Attach as a file the result of GST_DEBUG_FILE=log GST_DEBUG=2,*hls*:9,*adaptiv*:8 gst-play-1.0 ... . That will create a log file.

Let it run until you have the issues
