Is it possible to receive in GStreamer streams encoded in third party hardware?

First of all, I apologize for my lack of knowledge in this matter. I am used to encoding and decoding using dedicated hardware, but for a project I have been asked for a solution where the decoding would be performed by gstreamer. Before I get deeper into this, I would like to ask for your help clarifying if this would be possible at all.
